Speech and Audiology Department

The Speech and Audiology Department provides comprehensive services for the individuals who live here. People with disabilities often have significant communication and language problems which affect their ability to let others know what the want and need or what is important to have in their life. Some have difficulties interacting and socializing with others. Some have difficulties with learning to read and write. Experienced speech pathologists provide evaluations and treatment recommendations to the individual and their support team. Many individuals require alternative ways to support their understanding and expression of language. The department maintains a library of augmentative communication devices that are personalized for their use. To view some of the devices used here, check out the communication section at our website: www.pshtc.org. In addition to services at PSHTC we are frequently asked to provide evaluations, therapy, and consultation services for individuals who live in the surrounding community. For more information, contact Rebecca Koehler-Flaton by phone at (620) 421-6550 X1682 or by e-mail at rlf@pshtc.ks.gov
