Gary J. Daniels Sunbelt Rodeo

The Annual Gary J. Daniels Sunbelt Rodeo is held each year in September. The event takes place on the first weekend following Labor Day.

The rodeo is sponsored by the PSH Endowment Association. The Gary J. Daniels Sunbelt Rodeo is the only event of its kind! Participants travel from Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, and Kansas for the competition. The event begins on Saturday with two "Go-Rounds" in events such as barrel racing, trail course, pole bending, mechanical bull riding, key hole, flag racing, horsemanship and goat tie. The evening culminates with a Bar-B-Q and dance. Starting at 9:00 a.m., Sunday's event includes the finalists competing in the actual rodeo. Participates in the Red and Blue Division are paired with a riding club member and compete as a team for the finals.

Participants are divided into four divisions for competitions: Purple adaptive riders (using an adaptive saddle & lift), Yellow non-riders, Green beginning riders, Blue average riders and Red skilled riders. The public is invited to attend.

For information or an application for participation contact Marlys at 620-421-6550 extension 1726 or email at Marlys.Shomber-Jones@pshtc.ks.gov.
